Can a Peptide COA Really Show 100.00% Purity? HPLC Buyer Guide

A 100.00% HPLC result can be valid without proving an absolutely impurity-free vial. Learn what the number means before choosing a vendor.

Yes, an HPLC report can legitimately display 100.00% purity. It means the target peptide accounted for all integrated, reportable peak area under that specific method, or that a slightly lower result rounded to 100.00% at two decimal places.

It does not prove that every molecule in the vial is the target peptide. It also does not establish correct identity, labeled milligrams, sterility, endotoxin status, heavy-metal status, or shipping integrity. Those require separate evidence.

A 100.00% result is therefore neither automatic proof of perfection nor automatic proof that a vendor fabricated the report. The useful question is what the method measured, what it could miss, and whether the report matches the exact lot being sold.

What 100.00% Does and Does Not Prove

HPLC chromatographic purity measures peptide-related impurities that the method separates and detects. It is not automatically an identity test or a quantitative vial-content assay. Three separate questions matter:
