We keep seeing conflicting storage advice: some say lyophilized vials are fine at room temperature for months, others insist everything goes in the freezer immediately. What are the actual rules for storing research peptides before and after reconstitution?

The rules that matter, without the folklore:
Lyophilized (powder, unopened)
- Short term (weeks): a cool, dark drawer is fine — this is why shipping without cold packs is normal.
- Longer term: refrigerate (2–8°C). For many months to years, freeze (-20°C). Keep vials in the box or a bag — light and moisture are the enemies.
Reconstituted (after adding BAC water)
- Always refrigerate (2–8°C). With bacteriostatic water, several weeks of refrigerated use is the common standard in research settings.
- Do NOT freeze reconstituted peptides — freeze-thaw cycles degrade them.
- Label the vial with the date and concentration the moment you reconstitute. Future you will not remember.
Compound-specific notes: GLP-1 class compounds (semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide) are generally stable but still follow the same rules; NAD+ and copper peptides (GHK-Cu) are best used on the quicker end. When in doubt, mix smaller amounts more often — vials are cheap relative to a degraded batch (peptidepub.com/prices if you need to restock).
