Retatrutide Reconstitution Math: Vial Mg, BAC Water, Concentration, and Syringe Units
Retatrutide vial size and BAC water volume determine concentration and U-100 syringe units, not the total peptide in the vial. Use worked 10 mg to 50 mg examples, then compare current price per verified milligram and lot-level testing before buying.
Short Answer: Reconstitution Changes Concentration, Not the Milligrams in the Vial
A 10 mg retatrutide vial still contains 10 mg after water is added. The water changes the concentration in mg per mL and the amount of liquid represented by each syringe unit. It does not create or remove peptide.
Use three formulas:
- Concentration (mg/mL) = vial mg ÷ final volume in mL
- Mcg per U-100 unit = vial mg × 1,000 ÷ final mL ÷ 100
- U-100 units for a user-supplied amount = amount in mcg ÷ mcg per unit
A confirmed U-100 syringe has 100 units per 1 mL, so 1 unit equals 0.01 mL. These calculations do not apply to a syringe with a different scale.
The fastest way to check a custom vial-and-water combination is PeptidePub’s reconstitution calculator. It performs the arithmetic. It does not select an amount or protocol.
Retatrutide Reconstitution Table: 10 Mg Vial With 1 to 5 mL
For a labeled 10 mg vial, the arithmetic is:
| Final volume | Concentration | Mcg per U-100 unit | Units representing 1 mg |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 100 mcg | 10 units |
| 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 50 mcg | 20 units |
| 2.5 mL | 4 mg/mL | 40 mcg | 25 units |
| 3 mL | 3.333 mg/mL | about 33.33 mcg | 30 units |
| 4 mL | 2.5 mg/mL | 25 mcg | 40 units |
| 5 mL | 2 mg/mL | 20 mcg | 50 units |
The corresponding concentrations in mcg per mL are 10,000, 5,000, 4,000, about 3,333, 2,500, and 2,000.
The pattern is simple: adding more water lowers the concentration and raises the draw volume representing the same peptide mass. It does not increase the 10,000 mcg total in the vial.
Not every vial can physically hold every volume in this table. Confirm the actual container capacity and any product-specific compatibility information before using a final volume.
Worked Math: How to Cross-Check Concentration and Syringe Units
Start with a 10 mg vial and 2 mL final volume:
- 10 mg ÷ 2 mL = 5 mg/mL.
- 5 mg/mL × 1,000 = 5,000 mcg/mL.
- 5,000 mcg/mL ÷ 100 U-100 units = 50 mcg per unit.
For a neutral 500 mcg arithmetic input, 500 ÷ 50 equals 10 U-100 units, or 0.10 mL. This is a math example, not a retatrutide amount recommendation.
Cross-check it in volume terms: 0.10 mL × 5,000 mcg/mL = 500 mcg. If both paths produce the same result, the concentration and syringe conversion agree.
Now keep the vial at 10 mg but use 4 mL. The result is 2.5 mg/mL and 25 mcg per unit. The same neutral 500 mcg input represents 20 units. Twice as much water doubled the draw volume without changing the peptide mass.
Theoretical full portions are total vial mcg divided by the user-supplied amount. A labeled 10 mg vial contains 10,000 mcg, so 10,000 ÷ 500 = 20 theoretical portions before handling loss.
Larger Retatrutide Vials: Equivalent Concentrations Across 20, 30, and 50 Mg
Vial size alone does not determine concentration. Vial mass and final liquid volume have to be read together.
These combinations are mathematically equivalent:
- 10 mg plus 1 mL
- 20 mg plus 2 mL
- 30 mg plus 3 mL
- 50 mg plus 5 mL
Each equals 10 mg/mL, 100 mcg per U-100 unit, and 10 units representing 1 mg.
A second equivalence: 20 mg plus 4 mL produces 5 mg/mL, 50 mcg per unit, and 20 units representing 1 mg. That matches the concentration of a 10 mg vial plus 2 mL.
This is why a 50 mg vial is not automatically a more concentrated solution than a 10 mg vial. The final volume controls the relationship. These examples also do not prove that a particular 20, 30, or 50 mg vial can hold the stated volume. Check the physical vial capacity first.
Two error checks prevent most conversion mistakes:
- Do not confuse milligrams, a mass, with milliliters, a volume.
- Do not treat syringe units as milligrams. U-100 units measure volume, and the peptide mass per unit changes with concentration.
Trial Dose Arms Are Evidence Benchmarks, Not Reconstitution Instructions
The 2023 Phase 2 obesity trial randomized 338 adults and studied once-weekly 1 mg, 4 mg, 8 mg, and 12 mg arms for 48 weeks. Some higher-dose arms used lower starting doses and escalation.
At week 48, mean weight change was -8.7% at 1 mg, -17.1% in the combined 4 mg arms, -22.8% in the combined 8 mg arms, -24.2% at 12 mg, and -2.1% with placebo.
Those arms describe Lilly’s controlled clinical program. They do not establish a personal protocol, retail research-vial schedule, BAC-water volume, or equivalence between a seller’s vial and the clinical-trial product. Read the full dose-response context in our 1, 4, 8, and 12 mg trial guide and the broader retatrutide guide.
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection USP contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, equal to 9 mg/mL, in a multi-dose container. That definition does not prove compatibility with every peptide. CDC’s general rule says to date an opened multi-dose vial and discard it within 28 days unless the manufacturer specifies another opened-vial date. It is not proof of retatrutide chemical stability.
There is no public retatrutide stability study or approved finished-product label establishing a universal mixed-vial period. Do not copy semaglutide or tirzepatide pen instructions onto retatrutide.
Current Vial Prices: Compare Cost per Labeled Mg First

Viper - 20 mg: $119.99 list, about $101.99 after its 15% PEPTIDEPUB code, or about $5.10 per mg
RetaOne’s 30 mg vial has the lowest labeled after-code rate in this snapshot. That is only the first comparison. Exact-lot fill and testing determine whether the sticker-price winner is also the value winner.
COA Proof: Turn Price per Labeled Mg Into Price per Verified Mg
Viper’s current reviewed Retatrutide 20 mg lot VPRT0005 report from Great Lake Laboratories, dated August 2, 2026, includes all seven PeptidePub fields: net content, purity, identification, heavy metals, sterility, endotoxins, and contaminant screening.
RetaOne has a reviewed Retatrutide 12 mg report for lot RT120826 from Kovera Labs, dated August 14, 2026. It covers six of seven fields and lacks contaminant screening.
NextGen’s reviewed GLP-3 20 mg report for lot RT20-3618 from ILS Laboratories, dated April 16, 2026, covers net content, purity, identification, heavy metals, sterility, and endotoxins. Its vendor-level reviewed set reaches seven of seven. Puratek also reaches seven of seven at the vendor level, but its reviewed catalog reports are for BPC-157 and TB-500, not retatrutide. They do not prove a current retatrutide lot.
Before buying, verify the exact retatrutide identity, current lot match, named independent lab, quantitative net content, purity, sterility, endotoxins, heavy metals, and contaminant screening. A vendor-level score is not a substitute for exact-lot proof.
Once the current lot’s measured fill is known, use the cost-per-dose tool to normalize value. The Bodybuilding Health route is worth using only if its exact product, lot evidence, and delivered price win the comparison. Review broader testing depth at vendors.
FAQ
How much BAC water goes into a 10 mg retatrutide vial?
There is no universal volume. Water sets the concentration, while actual vial capacity and product-specific compatibility constrain the choice. Use the calculator with the exact vial and a user-supplied amount.
How many units are in 1 mg after adding 2 mL to a 10 mg vial?
The concentration is 5 mg/mL, so 1 mg is 0.20 mL or 20 units on a confirmed U-100 syringe. This is arithmetic, not an amount recommendation.
Does adding more water create more retatrutide?
No. A labeled 10 mg vial remains 10,000 mcg. More water lowers the concentration and increases the liquid volume representing the same mass.
Can the 1, 4, 8, and 12 mg trial arms be used as a personal schedule?
No. They are controlled-trial arms, not individualized instructions. They do not validate retail research-market vials or supply a reconstitution protocol.
How long does mixed retatrutide last?
No public retatrutide stability study or approved finished-product label establishes a universal period. CDC’s 28-day rule applies generally to opened multi-dose vials unless the manufacturer specifies another date, but it is not evidence of retatrutide chemical stability. Our BAC-water storage guide explains that distinction in more detail.
Bottom Line: Run the Math, Verify the Lot, Then Compare the Buy
Retatrutide reconstitution math follows a clean sequence:
- Confirm the vial mass in milligrams.
- Choose a compatible final volume that fits the actual container.
- Calculate mg/mL, then mcg per confirmed U-100 unit.
- Convert the user-supplied arithmetic input to units and cross-check the result in milliliters.
- Compare delivered cost per verified milligram after the current code.
For broader reference tables, use the 10 mg vial reconstitution chart. For BAC-water buying and handling questions, use the BAC-water buyer guide.
The cheapest labeled milligram is not automatically the best value. Require the exact current-lot report, quantitative fill, identity, purity, and a complete contaminant and microbial testing package before letting price break the tie.
Use the reconstitution calculator for the arithmetic, check live retatrutide prices for current vial comparisons, review vendors for testing depth, normalize the measured fill with the cost-per-dose tool, and apply a current deal only after the lot passes.
